It started the way these things usually do, with a spreadsheet. Like a lot of parents, we wanted to track the books we owned so we didn’t buy duplicates and didn’t forget the ones we wanted. But a spreadsheet can hold a list, not a memory. It can tell you that you own a book. It can’t tell you that it came from Grandma Bonnie the day after she found out you were expecting your first baby.

So we built something better.
