For Family and Friends

Logging a Gift

Record a book you gave, with your name, the occasion, and a note, without needing an account.

Full Story feature

This feature is part of the family's Full Story plan. If you do not see this option on their page, this family has not turned it on. Nothing is missing on your end, and there is nothing for you to sign up for. You can still browse their library and wish list, and shopping from the wish list is what keeps gifts from being duplicated.

Giving a book to a family? Log it on their page so it joins their library with your name and note attached. You do not need an account, and it takes about a minute. There are two ways in, depending on whether the book was on their wish list.

1

Open the family's library link.

2

If the book is on their wish list, open the "Wish List" tab and click "Mark as gifted" on that book. This is the quickest way, since the book is already filled in for you.

3

If it is a surprise that was not on their list, open the "Gift Log" tab instead, click "+ Log a gift," and search for the book by title or author.

4

Either way, the same short form opens. Enter your name under "Gifted by." This is the name the family will see, so "Grandma Susan" is friendlier than "Susan."

5

Choose an occasion from the dropdown, such as Birthday, Christmas, or Just Because.

6

If you choose Birthday, a second dropdown appears asking which birthday. Choosing "2nd" or "5th" is optional, but it makes the family's gift log lovely to read years later.

7

Under "For," tap the name of each child the book is for. This is optional, and you can tap more than one.

8

Add a note if you like. Notes become part of the book's story, so this is a lovely place for "this was your mommy's favorite when she was little."

9

Click the button at the bottom to finish. The family sees your gift and confirms it once the book has arrived, and then it joins their shelf.

Good to know

If you see a heads-up that the book is already in their library, it is only a warning, not a block. You can still log it if you gave a second copy or if it was given again.
